Biography

LightWisps is the collaborative efforts of Don DeGroat and Pat DuBreuil. Dons's eye is drawn to textures,
patterns, architecture and the human form while Pat is captivated by nature. Pat especially enjoys close-ups
of flowers in the early morning.

Don began working in photograpy in high school and after graduating he was accepted at Disney's school for fine arts,
the California Institure of Art. He worked for 3 years at the Univerisity of Southern Califonia, Medical Center doing medical photography, then taught high school photography. He then ventured out on his own and started a black and white
commercial lab and Photo Gallery which he ran for 6 years. The next 9 years he owned and operated a commercial
studio specializing in photographing food and high tech. For a number of years his career took a different path
but photography remanined his passion. In 1998 he once again focused on photography.

Pat's interest in photography began when she met Don. He introduced her to the techniques and finesse of the
darkroom, and the rich textures and effects created by light. Although not formally trained in the technical details of
photography, Pat prefers to trust her eye and camera to catpture the vivid colours and texture of the images
that she shoots in their natural setting.

Together, they enjoy the peace and quiet of their rural home. Their photos are printed from colour transparencies
and black & white negatives. They do their own darkroom work, thus controlling the interpretation and quality of their
photographs. All photos are limited edition, numbered and signed. Archival standards are ensured since they do their
own matting and framing. Although Pat and Don enjoy the traditional methods of photography, they take advantage of
their digital camera for advertising and web design work.

Since the introduction of their photography to the art world, their work has been shown at the Keefer Gallery
in Almonte ON, Canada and the MOTH Gallery in Merrickville, ON Canada. In April 2002, they participated in a two-man
show at the MOTH Gallery. LightWisps has participated in numerous shows over the past 10 years and their art is
displayed in numerous homes and offices across North Ameriica.

Currently LightWisps displays their work exclusively at 3 Yellow Tulips Art Shoppe in Pakenham Ontario, Canada.
Pat & Don own the shop and actively participate in the local arts community.
